Parents can do a lot to keep their child drug-free. Most parents are surprised to learn that they are the most powerful influence on their children when it comes to drugs. Young peple are much less likely to use drugs when their parents talk to them regularly about the dangers of drug abuse. As children grow older, they continue to benefit from the presence of a caring parent who is involved in the child's life, who knows what the child is doing, and who sets limits with clear rules and consequences.
