Crimestoppers of Grundy County is a non-profit organization designed to assist in the reduction of criminal activity in Grundy County. Crimestoppers is based on a very simple idea and process. Anybody who has information about criminal activity may call a dedicated telephone line at (815) 942-9667 at any time during the day or night and give information without giving their name, telephone number, address, or being asked to testify in court. The information given is passed on to the appropriate police jurisdiction. Rewards of up to $1,000 are offered for information which leads to arrests and are paid out by way of a coded process explained to the caller. The news media is essential in releasing information to the public and works in cooperation with Crimestoppers.
