NTTF’s vision for Grundy County is a community where children and adolescents grow up healthy and drug-free while getting the skills and tools they need to become healthy, productive adults.

Grundy County leaders are strong supporters of this vision, but there are many obstacles to progress, including:

  • Too many children and adolescents are abusing alcohol and drugs.
  • Gangs remain a threat to our schools, towns and rural areas, where they can bring in illegal drugs, violent behavior, and crime.
  • Dangerous illegal drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine, are being abused by Grundy County adolescents.
  • Too many of our high school youth have already become daily smokers, setting themselves up for lifelong addiction and tobacco-related health problems.
  • Young people who are in trouble with alcohol or drugs are not always able to access the help they need to stay healthy.
  • Often, parents do not have the knowledge and skills they need to protect their children and raise them to be successful adults.
  • Adults in our society often unwittingly send mixed messages about underage smoking, drinking, and other unhealthy behaviors.

Schools and law enforcement are important protective factors, but cannot do everything. People from all walks of life must play a role in protecting and nurturing the children and adolescents of Grundy County.
